Due to the advance of technology, It’s harder than ever to tell what is real and what is fake on the internet. Deepfake videos (a combination of the words “deep learning” by A.I. and “fake”), are AI altered audio or images that are so convincing it is scary. Well, recently a Pakistani politician fell victim to high-tech video – but it was far from a deepfake – rather, a video game.
Khurram Nawaz Gandapur, Secretary General of Pakistan’s Awami Tehreek Party, took to Twitter to share animated footage from Grand Theft Auto 5, under the impression that the impressive stunt depicted in the montage was real.

Before taking off into the air again. The secretary-general was not the only one convinced by the video. Twitter page Pakistan Zindabad tweeted out “Mis-coordination between departments working at any airport in the world can lead to a major disaster. In this clip an oil tanker was crossing runway and at same time an aircraft fully loaded with passengers landed. One must appreciate as to how pilot saves the lives of the passengers.”
